Getting into the romantic mood for festive days
We invite you on a journey across Europe to get into the Christmas mood. Not too long before the Christmas markets open all over the continent. We have picked out some well-known and some less-known for you to discover:
The Dresden Striezelmarkt is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany dating back to 1434. Among the highlights between November 27th and December 24th are the Stollenfest, for which an approximately 3,000 kg stollen is backed, and the Pyramidenfest at the foot of the world's largest step pyramid from the Erzgebirge. Many original products from the area of Saxonia are available: pottery from the Lausitz, basketry and laces from Plauen and wood-work from the Erzgebirge.
Just a few minutes from the city centre in the middle of a park the Romantik Hotel Pattis welcomes its guests. The highlight of this house is the gourmet restaurant, in which you can enjoy regional cuisine like it was served at the Saxonian king's court.
A diverse program on Scandinavian Christmas awaits the guests at the Weihnachtszauber Schloss Bückeburg. Let yourself be taken to the magical world of Scandinavian fairytales on horse-back inside the Court Riding School. Warm up with some Swedish shrimp soup, enjoy Finish Christmas waffles or the traditional Puuro - rice pudding with cinnamon.

More than one Christmas market transforms Innsbruck into a winter-Christmas-wonderland. Take the new Hungerburgbahn up to the "Panorama Christkindlmarkt Innsbruck" (November 28th to January 4th, always Thursday to Sunday). Enjoy the amazing view with Innsbruck down below, food and drink as well as pre-Christmas shopping is available. In front of the Golden Dachl (golden roof) and in the middle of the beautifully restored houses from the middle-ages in the old town the tradional Christkindlmarkt takes palce between November 21st and December 28th. Beside crafts and curiosity visitors can enjoy typical food.

For Christmas Luzern, famous for its lights, puts on its best look. Let yourself be enchanted by a contemplative sea of lights. A very special Christmas market is the Internationale Weihnachtsforum taking place between December 18th and 21st. On the Kapellplatz visitors can find out about Christmas traditions in foreign countries, buy typical products and taste regional delicacies. The biggest Christmas event in the Netherlands is the Christmas market in the Fluweelengrot between November 14th and December 21st. The system of subterranean caves and walkways dates back to the 12th century. The secret emergency exists of the Valkenburg were discovered by chance in 1937.
