A new hiking trail adds to the German trail network: On the 235 km long Westerwald hiking trail you can explore the diversity of the low mountain region between the rivers Sieg and Rhine. You come across six different areas of unspoilt nature. Besides that a number of regional, cultural and historical sights are on offer close to the trail.

Right in the centre of Hamm you can find the beautiful half-timbered house of the Romantik Hotel Alte Vogtei. In 1818 the German social reformer F.W. Bad Hönningen, one starting point of the Westerwald hiking trail, is not far from Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, where you can charge your batteries before or after the demanding hiking trip at the Romantik Restaurant and Hotel Sanct Peter.
